Kitchen display

A kitchen display that shows every order, kiosk or register

Orders on a screen instead of a spike of dockets — split across stations, ticked off as they are made, and clearing the way your kitchen actually works.

A printer tells the kitchen an order exists. It cannot tell you what is still waiting, what has been sitting for nine minutes, or which station has finished its half. A kitchen display can.

ORDRX kitchen displays show every paid order as it arrives — from a kiosk, from a phone, or rung up on your Square register — and let the people making the food work through them without touching paper.

One board for every order

Kiosk orders and Square register orders land on the same screens. That matters more than it sounds: a kitchen that watches a screen for kiosk orders and a printer for counter orders is a kitchen that will miss one.

Stations that show only their own food

Each screen can be filtered to the categories it is responsible for. The grill screen shows grill items; the fryer screen shows fryer items. An order containing both appears on both screens, each showing only the lines that station has to make.

Anything the system cannot confidently place — a combo, or an item recategorised since the order was placed — shows on every screen rather than none. A kitchen shown too much cooks something twice; a kitchen shown too little never cooks it at all.

Clearing that matches your kitchen

How a ticket leaves the board is a setting per screen, because kitchens differ:

  • By line — tick items off one at a time as they are made.
  • By ticket — clear the whole order in one action when it is done.
  • Independently — each screen keeps its own state, so the pass can still see an order that the grill has finished with.

Built for a working kitchen

  • Ageing colours. Tickets turn amber, then red, at times you choose — so a late order is obvious from across the room.
  • A chime and a flash when something new lands, for a kitchen too loud or too busy to watch a screen.
  • Large text mode and a column count you set, for screens read from a distance.
  • Recall — bring back a ticket cleared by mistake.
  • An expo view showing which stations have finished and which have not.

How it fits with the rest

Kitchen displays are part of the same system as your kiosks and the same dashboard. Screens are enrolled with a code, updated over the air, and configured centrally — you set a screen up once and change it from the dashboard afterwards. Included on the Pro plan.

Q. Does it show orders from my Square register too?

Yes. Orders rung up on your Square POS appear on the kitchen screens alongside kiosk orders, so the kitchen works from one board rather than watching a screen and a printer.

Q. Can different screens show different food?

Yes. Each screen can be set to show only the categories it cooks — the grill screen shows grill items, the drinks screen shows drinks. An order with items for both appears on both, showing only the relevant lines.

Q. What happens when one station finishes its part?

That station ticks its lines off. Whether that clears the ticket everywhere or only on that screen is a setting, so a pass screen can keep showing the whole order while each station clears its own.

Q. What hardware does it need?

An Android tablet or screen per station. It is a separate app from the kiosk, enrolled the same way with a code from the dashboard.

Q. Which plan includes it?

Kitchen display screens are included on the Pro plan.
